The Aspen Grooove

What is it:
The Aspen Grooove will be an art camp installation at Apogaea '05

Brief Description:
Grooovin, chill soundscapes in a fantastic, surreal, enhanced forest setting. Complete with chill music, lounging surfaces, and a tea/juice/smoothie/alcohol bar.

Details:
MetaMeme's 23' geodesic dome will be installed next to an aspen grove and have a "tunnel" extend off the back of the dome, into the aspen grove. The dome will be decked out with loungy stuff like carpet, pillows, cozy furniture, trippy artwork, a juice/tea/smoothie/alcohol bar, and a DJ. The tunnel going off into the aspen grove will become like a maze, but not really. Just a really weird place to go hang out at night =) Kinda like a fun-house in the forest. With speakers hanging in the trees playin groovin chill music and sound effects. The "tunnels" will be a collection of blacklight tapestries, stretched fabric, ropelights, and several other effects to be suggestive of (rather than rigid walls) cooridors and such. Some corridors may end at a "dead-end", some may lead to "rooms" and other corridors. Every "dead-end", however, will have at least something to look at before turning around. Decor and corridors shall include some of the interesting decorations we've made for recent party collaborations; the arch, altar, columns, paper muh-shay mushrooms, etc.

There is a possibility of having several other structures attach to the dome, or simply sit nearby as another destination point of the "maze". So far we have summoned potential interest including The Ballarium and old "Dome On The Range" hands.

This project is working in cooperation with "The Aspen Room" art installation. If possible we would like to connect the two.
